VIVEROS DE COYOACAN NATIONAL PARK.
It was declared National Park by the former President Lázaro Cárdenas, who transformed it in the first animal sanctuary of the Mexican Republic. It is composed by many roads with channels named after the trees among the streets: Negundo, Castaño, Cedro, Liquidambar, Fresno, etc. There is a plaza in the center of the area where the apprentices of bullfighters usually go to practice. There are squirrel nests inside the ancient liquidambar and ash trees. The squirrels are already used to the presence of human beings, and visitors can watch while other children and adults try to feed them. Attached to the nursery above Av.México and M. Ocampo, there is an exhibition area for plants sale. There usually are four expositions throughout the year: There are the azaleas, roses, dahlias and the last one is of special flower arrangements. |
