
Mexico City has received two million tourists domestic, national, foreign and migrants so far this holiday season, and it is expected that before the vacation period ends this figure reaches three million 200 thousand the people coming to the city, said the Secretary of Tourism of the City, Alejandro Rojas Díaz Durán.
Noting that the visitors flow will generate an economic income of over 10 billion pesos, he recalled that the tenor Placido Domingo concert was a success for the city and announced that on December 25 it will be broadcast on TV the full concert, which will be an important instrument of tourist promotion for the city.
He added that these series of holiday activities, including exhibitions along Reforma avenue, the tenor’s concert and on New Year’s Eve a concert with the Banda Limon, Emmanuel and Alexander Acha, among others, who will also be at the foot of the Angel of Independence.
“With this we will show that we live in a City with social tranquility, in a family harmony atmosphere, and enjoyment of the inhabitants of this city to the public spaces, like Zocalo Main Square, Alameda Central Park and Paseo de la Reforma Avenue”, said Rojas Díaz Durán.
He added that these events reinforce a positive image of Mexico City, because in their main events, there is a complete peace and no regrettable incidents.
He recalled that during the holiday season, the Head of Government, Marcelo Ebrard has given all facilities for local, national, foreign and migrant tourists to come to the City, for example with the Medical Assistance Program for Tourism; the Tourist Pass Online to be able to freely transit with their vehicles, and giving out the discount coupon booklet and promotions for all the citizens.
This will allow access to restaurants, entertainment centers, tourist services and travel agencies, and also a third or fourth night free at hotels.
On the other hand, he announced that in order to preserve Mexican traditions in Mexico City, there will be awards to the best representations of Jesus birth located at Paseo de la Reforma Avenue and the Alameda Central Park. There are 24 representations submitted for jury qualification, this jury is integrated by the program sponsors “The Magic of Christmas”, and public figures like writer Guadalupe Loaeza; writer and teacher Carlos Monsivais; General Director of CONACULTA Consuelo Saizar y the Authority of the Historical Center Dr. Alejandra Moreno Toscano.
The Ministry of Tourism of the Federal District supported the placement of 15 representations in the streets of Lieja up to the Diana Roundabout. Among the institutions participating we can find: National School for Drawing (with 2 representations), Integral Development of Buildings (DIIN), Hotel Tulip Inn Ritz, Mexico Post Office, FONART, Gustavo A. Madero Delegation, RTP, Magdalena Contreras Delegation, Aztcapotzalco Delegation, and Institute for Studies in Tourism, Tepeyac University, Tlahuac Delegation, Iztacalco Delegation.
In this exhibition we can appreciate the wit that characterizes Mexican culture, as there is a wide diversity of materials that are used to set these representations, such as paper, canvas, vinyl, wood, metal, yellow concrete and mud.
The winners of the representation are in first place: Tlalpan Delegation, whose representation is in the Alameda Central Park; second place is for University Tepeyac, their representation is set on the IMSS on Reforma Avenue and the third place is for Iztacalco Delegation. |
