The International Tourism Fair of the Americas (FITA) never suffered an objective condition for it to be replaced by another fair, so it never ceased to exist, said Carlos Mackinlay, the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, on Friday.
Based on the consensus reached by all participants related to the tourism in the capital, and after a joint review carried out since early this year taking into account the results of the first two editions of the fair, they agreed to re-launch FITA 2012.
In the press conference the Secretary of Tourism said that after several meetings with all the parties involved in the capital´s tourism, they noticed that the legal certainty for the realization of Fita 2012 is in favor of the company that owns the mark, as verified by the authorities.
He also said that the decision to realize the Fita 2012 has the full backing of the mayor of Mexico City, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, and that all employers in the industry and the leaders of tourism organizations overcame differences and disagreements to make the Fita 2012 possible.
During the first meeting of the Committee to Support the Fita 2012, which was formally established on Friday, representatives of all tourism in Mexico City decided to join forces and experiences so that the third edition of the fair will take place from 20 to 23 September in the Bancomer Santa Fe Exhibition Centre, and Mexico City is positioned around the world to host the big event.
Fita 2012, is chaired by Carlos Mackinlay, the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City and the general manager Juan Carlos Hinojosa are part of it, also representatives of industrial associations and chambers of the hotel , gastronomy, travel agencies, tour guides, tour operators and academia. All the participants feel Fita 2012 as very important for them and all their inputs are part of the broad guidelines of the organization.
The participants of the initial meeting was the lawyer Eligio Serna, CEO of Commercial Operation of the Council of the Mexico Tourism and the representative of the Secretary of Tourism of the federal government, Gloria Guevara Manzo .
The Secretary Carlos Mackinlay noted that within this Committee to Support the Organization of FITA 2012 there will be a strong involvement and it is open to all companies, so that decisions are shared and not concentrated in just one party.
Main functions of the Organization FITA 2012 is to make sure that each of the members will boost the image and promote institutionally, through representative organizations, to propose improvements to the overall functioning of the fair and review progress of these at the points detected as areas of opportunity.
The Organization will also provide a forum for communication with the diplomatic, trade and economic, as well as the productive and social sectors of Mexico City, from 8 June to 13 September, five regular meetings will be held to work to review progress of the organization and everything related to the fair.
The dates of these meetings are 28th June, 19th July, 9th and 30th August and 13th September in which they find solutions to different aspects of the fair: food, internet, setting of flag and access to host it. Registration of participants and press, all that matters, he said, will require further study.
