In the 28th Festival of Mexico is highlighted with the presentation of the PRESTIGIOUS Ballet Preljocal, a French company with 24 dancers that will surprise the public with the staging of the classic ballet by the Brothers Grimm: Snow White.
En esta 28° edición del Festival de México destaca la presentación del prestigiado ballet Preljocaj, una compañía francesa que trae 24 bailarines que sorprenderán al público con la puesta en escena del clásico cuento de los hermanos Grimm: Blanca Nieves.
While remaining true to the classic story, Angelin Preljocal a Parisian dancer and choreographer, has created her own Snow White with a magical setting by Thierry Leproust accompanied by music by Gustav Mahler and an eccentric wardrobe by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
The dancers had different opinions about the costumes. The Prince, played by Italian Fabrizio Clemente, told the media that by “putting on the costume I feel more important, bigger, more like a prince”. The others commented that the costumes “feels like made by Gaultier”. Bulky... not the most comfortable when dancing, no doubt the coustumes help to create the character and step into their shoes”.
In this piece for 25 dancers all of them has been perfectly advised and Preljocal has managed to exalt the characteristics of the classic characters with a romantic and contemporary choreographic vision. In thos version, the 7 little men that accompany the Snow White on her journey, have been defined by the famous choreographer as “monks”. These characters are more mature than those childish and naive ones, known popularly as the “drawfs”. In the words of the dancers, Angelin “likes to do real things, speak by movements, wants to pass on the love between a man and a woman, and we pass on the desire of a man to protect his beloved ones, the desperation of the prince to see her dead and her desperation to do everything possible to revive it.”
This majestetic staging will be presented on the 3rd and the 4th of May at the City Theater at 20:00. Tickets are on sale at the box office Festival (Republica de Cuba No.43), through Ticketmaster and the at the box office premises.
